Helper for a Stranger I walked down the filthy New York City sidewalk on my way to the bus stop. I hated living here. People were always asking me for money and food, and on the sidewalks people were always running into me and touching me with their disgusting hands. Things weren’t any better at home. I live with my two older twin brothers, Kyle and Henry, who hang around each other all the time and never with me. They hate me. These are all the reasons why I’m headed for the bus stop. I am running away. As I approach the bus stop I see something out of the corner of my right eye. A boy, about my age, looking both ways before heading down a dark alleyway. Should I follow him? I think to myself. I decide to follow him, I could always catch another bus. I quickly run down the dark alleyway. When I felt like I had been walking for hours, I see something. A note left on the ground. I pick it up, it’s sticky from the gross city streets. The note says: Hey Rena! I was wondering if you could help me with something. By the time you’ve read this, it is probably 5:00 pm. If you agree to help me with what I will ask you, stay here and I’ll meet you in half an hour. If not, just drop this note and leave.
